A BENCH IN THE SUN
by Ron Clark
August 18 - September 26
El Campanil Theatre performances September 19 & 22
A simple story of two old fogies in a retirement home bickering about the
mundane life they lead. One is a crusty old accountant who prefers to stay
in his pajamas all day, the other a suave, debonair fellow who loves to
dance. They find a new topic of bickering—an aging “glitzy” movie star who
“moves” in— which will provide many hearty laughs and leave you with joy
in your heart.
(Ron Clark is a successful and hilarious writer who has written for
nearly every comedian from Jackie Gleason to Mel Brooks.)

El Campanil Theatre performances October 15, 16, & 17
Based on a true story. A musical tribute to Patsy Cline, the legendary
country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The
show is based on the true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan named
Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk and continued
a correspondence with her until her death. The play is complete with
down-home country humor, true emotion, and unforgettable songs such as
“Crazy,” “Anytime,” “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Your
Cheatin’ Heart,” “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” and many more.

OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS
by Joe Di Pietro
November 1 - December 5
El Campanil Theatre performances November 14 & 17
An Off-Broadway success about a young man dealing with his two sets of
overbearing grandparents. The show is witty and poignant, and addresses
issues of family relationships with a satisfying, old-fashioned point of
view. Nick Cristano is a 27-year-old marketing executive whose only close
relatives, geographically speaking, are his four grandparents. He has dinner
with all of them every Sunday. One Sunday, Nick announces he’s been offered
a promotion that would take him to Seattle. His grandparents are devastated,
and thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. To keep him from
moving, Grandma Emma invites Caitlin, the relative of a canasta partner,
over to dinner one Sunday, hoping she and Nick will fall in love. The
encounter is a disaster, and the plan backfires. Now, more than ever, Nick
is convinced he needs to move far away from this insane, overly loving group
of senior citizens. A hilarious comedy.
